Why TeamworkBouncing ideas from one person to another can lead to a better product than one created by working alone. One of the most important aspects of the MSET is the emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. I am going into my third year teaching, and like many SD schools I am the only person teaching my courses. It can be very easy to start feeling like an island. Teamwork and collaboration are one of the most important parts of teaching. Having other staff and admin to lean on when it is tough, and celebrate with when there are successes is a major reason as to why I still want to be a teacher. The MSET, through different projects, has forced me to look for support and help in my classroom. It has also outlined different characteristics of leaders that I look for in the people I am working with as well as within myself.
Alignment with MSET Objectives
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." |
Coursework with an emphasis on teamwork:LT-712 Final Project: In this course we developed a project to be used in our classrooms. We worked on this in stages and after each stage other students in the course provided feedback in regards to improvements and changes that could be made to make the project better. Giving one another feedback helped make the projects better than they could have been without collaboration from others. LT-716 Final Project: In this course, Systematic Design of Instruction, we developed PD for other teachers in our school. I created a google classroom, self paced course with a videos on how to complete common functions within Infinite Campus. Infinite Campus is the program used by schools in SD to organize and store information on students and classes. This project was done in stages with feedback after each stage from members of the class. |
